Klein Oqis Namaqua Experience is a community-based tourism and cultural experience rooted in the heart of Koingnaas on the Namaqualand coast. We are not a tour company -- we are a living story, shared through landscape, food, and the people who have called this coastline home for generations.
Located where the Namaqualand Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean, our experiences are shaped by a landscape forged by ocean currents, diamond fields, ancient fishing communities, and the resilience of the people who built their lives here.
Every experience is personal, small-group, and rooted in authenticity. We believe tourism should benefit the community, preserve heritage, and create genuine human connection -- not mass entertainment.
"The best stories are the ones that changed the people who lived them. That's what we share here."
Andrew "Drew" Cloete was born and raised on the Namaqualand coast -- a place shaped by diamonds, the sea, and generations of stories passed down around the table.
As a passionate local storyteller, Drew shares personal narratives, community history, and local legends that exist nowhere in books or museums. Guests learn not only about the breathtaking beauty of the Namaqualand coast, but about the struggles, resilience, and traditions of the people who call it home.
Drew's knowledge spans the diamond-mining history of Koingnaas and Kleinzee, the fishing communities of Hondeklip Bay, the wildflower routes of Namaqualand, and the deep cultural heritage of the region. He combines this knowledge with an open heart and extraordinary hospitality.
The only place where Namaqualand desert, the Atlantic Ocean, diamond fields, and wildflowers all converge in one landscape.
Drew shares community history, personal narratives, and local legends that exist in no book, no museum, and no other tour.
Traditional home-cooked Namaqualand meals using family recipes and fresh local produce -- crayfish, potjiekos, and more.
Every experience is small-group and personally guided by Drew -- ensuring you get real attention, real stories, real connection.
Every Rand you spend supports local people and preserves Namaqualand heritage for future generations.
"Come as a visitor -- leave as family." Our guests don't just visit Namaqualand, they fall in love with it.
Klein Oqis is more than a tourism business -- it is a commitment to the community of Koingnaas. Every experience supports local people, local food, and the preservation of Namaqualand's irreplaceable cultural heritage.
